Kero Kero Bonito (sometimes abbreviated to KKB and alternatively styled as ケロケロボニト) is a British band from London, England.
Biography[]
Gus and Jamie grew up in the suburbs south of London and went to school together. KKB was originally Gus' project and they had their first concert 12 March 2012. They wanted to work with someone who could speak Japanese and posted an advertisement on MixB, an online bulletin board for Japanese expatriates. Sarah was one of the first respondents. They selected her based on her background in art and previous experience with a Japanese girl group. The group released their debut mixtape Intro Bonito on Bandcamp 30 September 2013, and later through Double Denim Records on 25 August 2014. The band contributed "Flamingo" to Ryan Hemsworth's compilation EP shh#ffb6c1. In 29 September 2014, Kero Kero Bonito released Bonito Recycling, a compilation of Intro Bonito remixes by artists including Danny L Harle and Spazzkid. The band released the single "Build It Up", on which Sarah sings in a call and response pattern, in November 2014. On August 10, 2015 Kero Kero Bonito announced their first North American tour, which took place during October 2015. On 21 October 2016, the group released their first album Bonito Generation through Double Denim Records.
On 12 February 2018 the band released the TOTEP EP. On 8 May 2018 they released the single Time Today and announced their second studio album Time 'n' Place. It was released 1 October 2018 under Polyvinyl Record Co. While on tour in San Francisco, personal effects were stolen from the band's van, which resulted in cancellations for their next two concerts.
